Forensics
- In forensics, speakers from grades 5-8 get together after
school on Tuesdays. The student members practice their speeches
in front of the other students. Since there are
many tournaments every year, Mrs. Killmeyer, the forensics
coach, encourages the students to practice their speeches
with a lot of effort. She wants the students to say their
speeches with expression to make the speech sound interesting.
Our speakers do an excellent job at the tournaments. Our students and
school have won many awards for this activity. Forensics is an excellent
activity because being good at speaking in front of an audience
is very helpful later on in life.

Yearbook
- The yearbook is a group that compiles, edits, and
raises funds for an all-school yearbook. The yearbook
staff are monitored by Mrs. Janov and
Mr. Scandinario. Pictures are taken of the whole school
individually in September by Mr. Scandinario, who then returns in March
to take class and activities' pictures. Throughout the year,
8th grade students take various pictures of all the
activities and events that occur during the school year to include
in the yearbook. Students are encouraged
to purchase a yearbook for a very small price.

Shakespeare Play
- Every Spring, St. Maurice students in 6th through 8th
grade perform a Shakespearean play. Mrs. Zitelli, our 7th and 8th grade
Language Arts Teacher, is in
charge of the plays. Try-outs are held to determine
roles for participants. In addition to acting on-stage,
there are many other positions that need to be filled
(props, lighting, costumes, music, etc.). Students learn it takes a team
effort to produce a quality performance. Those students who are not
involved in the production of the play study the play in class.
