Welcome to the East Catholic School Website. We hope that you will find all of the information about the school that you need.
The school was staffed by the Sisters of Mercy when it opened in 1953. At the present time the lay teachers continue the academic and spiritual traditions that were begun by the Sisters.
Being a Catholic School, we know that religion is the cornerstone of the school. The students attend weekly Mass, say the rosary in October and May, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent and Lent, attend Stations of the Cross during Lent, and are prepared for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.
Our academic program is based on the Curriculum Guidelines of the Catholic Schools Department of the Diocese of Pittsburgh and the Standards of the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Check out the scores from the Terra Nova tests to see how well our students perform.
We are a community, school and Parish, who work together for the good of the students. After visiting the website, please call the school at 412/351-5403 to schedule a tour and see our school in action.
