Staff and Faculty
St. Maurice School has a dedicated staff working in various parts of the overall school. This staff includes not only the faculty but the secretary, custodial personnel, cafeteria workers, after school program teachers, and support staff including a band director, remedial reading and math teacher, speech and language specialist and a guidance counselor. The staff works together to accomplish the school's immediate and long range goals.
The School Advisory Council
In striving to create schools which exhibit both excellence in every area of curriculum and a strong, vibrant Catholic identity, the Diocese of Pittsburgh recognizes the value of School Advisory Councils. By drawing upon the expertise of the larger community and building partnerships with interested persons, St. Maurice Catholic School will reap a wealth of benefits from the consultation given by a School Advisory Council, which can play a critical role in offering assistance, advice and support to the Principal. Committees and Associations
The Parent-Teacher Guild (PTG)
The PTG is made up of parents who wish to promote the advancement of Catholic Education and the welfare of all the children of St. Maurice School. They provide funds for field trips, school assemblies, and educational programs for the parents.
The PTG coordinates the fundraising efforts of the school in order to provide these services for the school.
The St. Maurice School Athletic Association(SMSAA)
The primary purpose of this organizations is to enhance the development of the youth of St. Maurice School through varied athletic opportunities. These sports activities shoulc encourage fair play, build Christian character, and promote leadership, self-confidence, self-esteem, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle.
This organization should also provide direction and support to the operation of the school’s athletic programs which recognizing that it is an integral part of a total Catholic school education.
The Faculty
The Sisters of Mercy and dedicated lay teachers make up the St. Maurice School Faculty. Teachers have State and Diocesan Certification, as well as additional credits and/or Master's degrees, with specializations in a variety of teaching fields. They come from a diverse background, professionally, socially and culturally, and they have many, many years of experience in teaching and child education. Many of them bring more than 15 years of teaching at St. Maurice School, some over 20 years of experience at the School. They are specialists in their fields.
